Michael Solovyev has tried just about every watercolour brand on the market, so when he says Daniel Smith is the only one he relies on completely, that carries some weight.
This set of 10 Extra Fine Watercolours was chosen by Michael to reflect the way he actually paints. His usual palette is just nine colours, covering around 80% of his work, but for this set he added a tenth to give you a well-rounded balance of warm and cool hues that work together naturally.
The selection is built with mixing in mind. Colours like Quinacridone Sienna, Indigo and Perylene Violet are perfect for building those subtle, complex shadow tones that Michael considers essential to developing as a painter. India Yellow, Alizarin Crimson, Phthalo Blue and Phthalo Green round out a palette that’s surprisingly versatile for just 10 colours.
