Dorland’s Wax Medium

Dorland¡¯s Wax Medium is a translucent material made from waxes and resin. It can be mixed with all kinds of compatible art materials including oil paints, powdered pigments, powdered metals, sands, dyes and more. It can be used as a hot or cold wax painting medium and is a valuable addition to mixed media pieces. When used as an additive for oil colours it dries faster than unadulterated oil paint and gives a matt finish. It can also be mixed with Pearl Ex Powdered Pigments to create a heavy body, metallic paint. This medium resists cracking and won¡¯t yellow over time.
Dorland¡¯s Wax can also be used as a sealing medium and gives a protective, waterproof top coat that enhances depth of colour and allows for glassless framing. It is suitable for use as a top coat on watercolour and gouache paintings, wood, plastic, metal objects and photos. Leave rough for a matt finish top coat, or buff gently once dry to create a lustre finish.
